About Us
Who Is TchatAfrika Cuisine?
Welcome To TchatAfrika Cuisine!
For ages, food has been used not only to meet ones physical health needs but as a tool to connect differing communities across the world. African Americans in particular are a people whose lives have been directly impacted by the atrocities of slavery and it's continued oppression by entities that fail to acknowledge it's existence. Resultantly, most so called African Americans live out their lives not knowing their true identities that unbeknownst to many, affects their behaviors and perceptions of life. At TchatAfrika Cuisine, it is our goal to awaken and reconnect people back to a peaceful place their ancestors once knew. Not only for African Americans but our food is a taste of home for a variety of cultures across the Diaspora. Taking that first bite will awaken a new world of possibilities, of power and change that was never previously thought possible. Our motto is "eat the way you live" and we hope to inspire others to go beyond that delicious bowl of culture and pursue your true identity; Make a family tree, Eat your culture, Dress your culture, live your best life. Assalam Alaikum (May Peace Be with You).
WHAT IS OUR MISSION?
TO HEAL OUR COMMUNITIES!!!
I have seen a lot of trauma in our communities and having had alot of different life experiences it has been apart of our passion to contribute to the healing of our communities. We use food as a means to bridge the gap between cultural differences and hopefully achieve a deeper sense of community. People are tired. People are traumatized and fed up with ongoing violence across the world but we all form what we consider our individual and collective communities. It's time we start having some tough conversations and what better way to facilitate these discussions than over a steaming plate of Jollof Rice.
Meet the Family
